Today, the Law Society’s board of directors (Convocation) voted in favour of a motion to oppose the expropriation by Metrolinx of its property and in support of alternative proposals for Osgoode Station as part of Ontario Line development.

Thanks to the efforts of community members, stakeholders and partners who have raised concern over the removal of five trees from the historic grounds of Osgoode Hall, Metrolinx has now agreed that this removal is not necessary to facilitate an archaeological assessment for the Ontario Line station Metrolinx proposes for the site.
After discussions with licensees and stakeholders, the Law Society will continue the temporary pandemic measure of allowing virtual verification without authentication until January 1, 2024.

At the November 14, 2022 Call to the Bar ceremony, the Law Society of Ontario will present a degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) to former Supreme Court Justice Michael J. Moldaver, who has made a lasting mark on criminal law in Canada as a lawyer, teacher and jurist.
This application to pass accounts will be heard on Monday, the 14th day of November, 2022 at 10 a.m. via Zoom videoconference.
Decisions in the investigation into cheating on the Law Society’s November 2021 barrister and solicitor online licensing examinations have been made in relation to most of the individuals who were under investigation.
