Consultation: Expanded remedial outcomes for the Proceedings Authorization Committee (PAC)

The Professional Regulation Committee is seeking feedback from lawyers, paralegals, legal organizations and the public on its recommendation to expand the remedial outcomes available to the Proceedings Authorization Committee (PAC) to include the authority to require licensees to:

  • attend a mandatory regulatory meeting; and
  • take a continuing education or remediation program.

PAC is appointed by Convocation to review all complaints about licensees referred to it to determine which action available to it under the By-Laws should be taken. These include authorizing a conduct, capacity or competence proceeding or taking remedial action where prosecution is not an appropriate response.

Read the consultation report for more information.
The consultation has closed. The Professional Regulation Committee thanks everyone who provided input. The responses are being reviewed and will help the Committee to determine whether to advise Convocation to adopt the recommendations of the report.
