Archives Services

Research Service

Staff of the Archives can assist you with your research request. Inquiries are welcome by telephone, e-mail, and mail. Response time varies depending on the nature of the inquiry. Fees may apply for certain research services.

Researchers wishing to visit the Archives must make an appointment. Please note that all archival material must be consulted on-site.

Photocopying and Scanning

Archival material may be photocopied or scanned unless prohibited for reasons of confidentiality, copyright, or physical condition. Researchers should note that all copies will be made by Archives staff, and are intended for private research or reference purposes only.

Photographic Reproductions

Researchers may order digital copies of photographs unless prohibited by reasons of copyright, confidentiality, or physical condition. To place an order, please contact the Archives at archref@lso.ca 

Copyright

The Law Society of Ontario does not assume responsibility for copyright infringement by researchers. The recipient of reproductions/scans assumes responsibility for determining whether the material is subject to copyright and for ascertaining the copyright holder. The recipient is also responsible for determining whether the use of material constitutes an infringement of copyright under the Copyright Act.
