Members of Ontario's legal professions will be recognized for their outstanding career achievements and contributions to their communities at the annual Law Society Awards ceremony, which will be held on May 22, 2024.
At this morning’s Call to the Bar ceremony, the Law Society of Ontario conferred a degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) upon Associate Chief Justice J. Michal Fairburn of Ontario, whose intellect, sound judgment and understanding of the law and justice system have earned her the respect of the legal profession, the judiciary and the Ontario public.
On November 24, 2023, the Supreme Court of British Columbia granted an injunction suspending the application of the expanded mandatory disclosure rules in the ITA to members of the legal professions pending the outcome of the Federation’s challenge to the constitutionality of those provisions.
